The response was great, the videos as well as the resulting copies uploaded by others had a total of approx 20,000 views. A lot of people said it was a fake but there were a lot who also believed it was possible. Some even went as far as to defend the hoax offering up explanations [...]
A closer look at the damage on the main plane, I studied a lot of fairly grim crash photos to try and get it looking realistic, I wanted to fully model each section of the plane but schedule would not allow this kind of detail.
These planes were added to the 3D motion tracked footage and then colour matched to make them look like they were actually there.
This satellite dish was something I made before the year started, I was throwing around ideas and just building things to see what I could do and came up with this. It wasn;t used in the final piece but i’m still quite proud of it.
Bit of a side project, National Geographic USA are holding a student competition. They released 5 images and asked students to do something creative with them to advertise certain shows, this is the first one. Here I took the still image and added some slight parallax and movement of smoke using bulge and smudging tools.
